Behind the Name

My mom has always laughed about me calling every one of my friends, ‘my best friend’! I’ve literally always referred to Every. Single. Friend. of mine as ‘My Best Friend’. But, you see, I don’t just refer to them as such, I TRULY feel deep within my heart that they all are my best friends & I need and love them all equally and {plot twist hehe} they feel the same way about me! I humbly cherish each and every one of these genuine friendships and I know how very blessed I’ve been with such incredible besties.

So back to the name. . . while brainstorming with the fam on store names– my mom threw out–“how about ‘my best friend Jenna’ because I’m sure you’re going to be making lots of new bffs on this journey!” Well the name clearly stuck, and YES I’ve made so many wonderful connections since opening at 179 Carriage House Drive, 11 years ago!

Being a small town girl with a big heart and big dreams, I’m so grateful for all the small business support through the years on this little idea of opening a boutique. I love this quote, “every morning you have two choices–to sleep with your dreams or wake up and chase them.

Let me be the one to encourage you to do the same!

Meet Jenna

Just a little bit about me, in case you’ve never shopped, or might I say, haven’t YET shopped at My Best Friend Jenna..

I graduated from MTSU in December 2009, with a degree in Broadcast Journalism– yep, sorry Dad! However, my true passion has always been fashion. Upon moving back home that December, while doing some Christmas shopping, I discovered a formal wear store going out of business after 40 years. . . oh YES, the wheels started turning!!

Having the best and most supportive parents in. the. world. I opened My Best Friend Jenna in February 2010 (during a real recession).

Yet, here we are, THRIVING {even during a pandemic}, ALL the PRAISE to the LORD ABOVE. . . & lotssssssss of hard work.

Bridal Coordinator/ Tuxedo Specialist

All things bridal pretty much sums me up. From your private bridal consultation, to working with all your besties wardrobing them for all the festivities, and let’s not forget the perfect fit for your groom and groomsmen! Prior to expanding and focusing on bridal, I worked in communications and advertising through college at Middle Tennessee State University. In the midst of living in Middle Tennessee, I landed a job in entertainment –backup singing and dancing for the legendary Oak Ridge Boys. All of this to say, they were all experiences of a lifetime and something I will never forget. I knew I wanted to be closer to home where I could enjoy my true passion, riding and showing Tennessee Walking horses.

I have been a professional makeup artist for 15 years and enjoyed working with pageants, photo shoots, music videos, weddings and various other things. All the while, having a makeup studio in My Best Friend Jenna, I began to do more and more weddings, helping with details and colors alongside the makeup, and it really sparked a fire in me. I really enjoyed the bridal side of formal wear! From that point, My Best Friend Jenna knew it was time to expand to be a full bridal boutique alongside prom and formalwear. All the while, Jenna and I help each other everyday, we both have our focus.

Jenna and I have always grown up in a loving family who works together and supports each other, so this falls right in to place with what we have been taught. Relocating My Best Friend Jenna to our now, present location, enabled us to truly devote the needed space and attention to each entity. It is my wish that everyone who walks through our doors feels as loved as we did growing up, coming to see our grandparents at this very place.
